Job Summary
The Credit Analyst Officer evaluates the creditworthiness of individuals or businesses applying for loans. This role is responsible for analyzing financial data, assessing risk, and providing recommendations to ensure sound lending decisions and minimize default risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial statements, cash flow, and credit history of loan applicants.
- Conduct credit risk assessments and prepare detailed credit reports.
- Evaluate loan applications against internal policies and risk frameworks.
- Recommend approval, rejection, or conditions for credit facilities.
- Monitor existing loan portfolios and identify early warning signs of default.
- Ensure compliance with credit policies, banking regulations, and risk standards.
- Collaborate with relationship managers and sales teams for client evaluation.
- Perform industry and market analysis to support credit decisions.
- Maintain accurate credit documentation and records.
- Support loan structuring and risk mitigation strategies.
Job Requirements
Education & Qualification- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CFA or Credit Risk Certification are an advantage.
- 2–5 years of experience in credit analysis, banking, or financial services.
- Experience in corporate, SME, or retail lending is a plus.
- Strong understanding of financial statement analysis.
- Knowledge of credit risk assessment and lending principles.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
- Experience with credit analysis systems or banking software.
- Analytical and critical thinking mindset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
- Integrity and ethical decision-making.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Quality and accuracy of credit assessments.
- Loan portfolio performance, including default and NPL ratio.
- Turnaround time for credit evaluation.
- Compliance with credit policies and audit standards.
- Risk identification and mitigation effectiveness.
